A happy new year to all my readers, who are following and reading this blog. This is my first article of this year. I was off for quite a while and there have been a lot of enquiries and requests from many aspirants regarding how to get an admit? What are the proper steps or ways to follow. Let me give you an example and explain. Please do note that, there is no hard and fast rule that everyone needs to follow these steps and I do not guarantee anything. The below points are from my experience and observations.
Let’s take an example of Raghu, who is currently at 5th semester of his Bachelor’s studies and he is aspiring to pursue his Masters from Germany. So, I would suggest him to first find out his niche and passion. Completing a Masters is a herculean task and there is no point for Raghu to pursue Masters in Artificial Intelligence, when he has a passion for Thermodynamics. First step for Raghu is to find his interest and then do other things. Also Raghu needs to start learning ‘Deutsch’(German) language and complete at least A2 or B1 level.

After this, Raghu needs to start preparing for GRE and IELTS/TOEFL; because most of the courses need these scores at the time of application. At the mean time, Raghu needs to start looking out for courses that match his passion. He needs to go through the course modules and check for each and every subject available, so that he will get a deep understanding of the subjects taught and whether it matches his interests.
Once Raghu is confident about his GRE and IELTS/TOEFL preparations, he can start giving the exams in the month of October. If he gets a bad score, there will always be an option of re-taking the exams. Then in the month of November, most of the universities will start to open their admission portals and applications.
Prior to this, Raghu needs to select the right courses for his career and make a list. Then it will be easier for him to go directly to those Application websites and apply. There is no limit to application and Raghu can apply to ‘N’ number of courses in various universities.

Admission requirements:
(P.S: These are not the ONLY requirements. This is just a General list)
(P.S: These are not the ONLY requirements. This is just a General list)
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree
- GRE (Depends on the course)
- GATE(Some universities accept GATE score also)
- IELTS/TOEFL (To prove that you have sufficient knowledge of English)
- Statement of Purpose (To know the motivation of the student, to join the course)
- Letter of Recommendation (From your professors or company)
- German language (sometimes A2/B1 is required)
- Curriculum Vitae (Not Resume, it should be according to European standards)
These are just a starting step and in my opinion the Statement of Purpose and CV plays a major role. Because, the admission committee will have to judge on your motivation that you show in your SOP. Your CV will tell more about your academic and career achievements, but your SOP is the only document which is going to sell yourself to them.
I wish best of luck to all your endeavours and career.
