- Academics
- Non-academics
Academics:
After one or two semesters, when you have settled down with your studies and new place, you might want to start searching for some part-time job. The first place will be look at your university website, especially in your "Professorship" where you will find some openings for "HiWi" or some Research related jobs. You have a better chance in getting one of these, if you could prove the Professor with your expertise in that particular field and if he is convinced with your profile, then you will easily get the job. These kind of jobs will be perfect for students, since it requires you to work just in the university and it doesn't take a toll on your health.

On the other hand, as a student you are also allowed to work in companies as HiWi or Intern. But, if you are applying to a company the process of selection may take long and you need to apply with proper documents like CV, Cover letter, etc., If you get selected in one of these place, you will get paid-well; around 10-13EUROS per hour.
Non-academics:
The jobs in this category doesn't require you to know C, C++, VHDL, etc., programming languages but some jobs might require you to speak German or it might be very tedious and physically exhausting.
If you are looking for making some quick money, then Christmas period will be your best bet; because most of the natives will not be working and the companies will be needing more personell to support their team. One of the best places to work will be AMAZON, which is an American company and they have good working culture with good pay.
There are other local consultancies, where the nearby companies make contract for Production or Low-level jobs and these consultancies shall give it as part-time work to the students. These jobs will be physically exhaustive or will require you to speak German.
On the whole, it is not a huge task to find a part-time job in Germany. But, it will be easier if you have some proper experience in your field of study or if you know German well. It is also much easier to find a part-time job in bigger cities like Berlin, Munich, etc., where there are many local firms and they always need people to support their team.
