Profile Evaluation and Job opportunities in Germany

In the recent times I get lot of requests from many people, who see my answers in Quora or my blog posts, etc., Most of them ask me to evaluate their profile and suggest them universities. If you are also looking out for any profile evaluation services or suggestions, then this blog is for you.

The main questions are:
  1. Can you please evaluate my profile and tell me if I can get an admit?
  2. Can you please suggest me some universities for "so and so" course?
  3. What are the job opportunities after completing the course?

I have answered so many students with these same questions. From my experience, majority of them wanted the following answers:

  1. Yes! Your profile is good and you will get into TU universities
  2. You have to apply only to these "5" universities and you will get an admit for sure.
  3. You will definitely get job and your field is very good.
These are the respective answers that most of them expect, but on the contrary these are my honest answers for the above mentioned questions:
  1. No one can really evaluate your profile, maybe we can tell based on our experience; but that isn't the final call. Also, no one can tell whether you will get admit or not because we do not work in the admission committee.

I have seen guys with just 75% marks getting into TU9 universities and also the guys with 90% not getting an admit. It is just that, you need to modify and polish your SOP and other application documents in such a way, that it convinces the admission committee to choose your application.
  2. When you complete your Bachelor's studies, you maybe into ECE, CS, Mech, IT, EEE, EIE, etc., And you would have studied at least 40 subjects in those course. When it comes to Masters, you can find departments which are focused on each of those 40 subjects.

For eg: If you are asking for the best courses in CS field, I can give you 400 different types of courses which specializes in the field which you may not even heard of; it is always better to do your own research and apply.
  3. Moving over to the Job opportunities part, no one can predict whether you will get job after your course or not. We are not astrologers, we are engineers. Each and every field has job opportunities, it depends on you to work hard and obtain the necessary skills for the job. There is no point in asking someone else regarding your career.

One more thing to add, the German universities are not dumb to have a course which doesn't have job opportunities.

  1. Aravind, can you please write an article about studienkollegs in Germany , and its relevance (or the lack thereof) for MS aspirants.
Can studienkollegs be used to bridge the gap when wishes to pursue his masters in a stream separate from his graduation major (say an ETCE student aspiring for a Masters in Computer Science).
    Thanks.

FREE EDUCATION IN GERMANY!!

Yes!! You heard it right, doing Masters in Germany is mostly free of cost. It is not fully free of cost, but comparatively it is very less than doing Bachelors in most of the countries. As a student, you many have to pay around 300 euros per semester.   In the recent years, Germany has made its education, free of cost. You may ask, how does Germany manage to provide free education, it is very simple. In Germany the people agree to pay high taxes, which they get back as very good services from the government. And moreover, Germany has a lower percentage of students opting for college, contrary to countries like America or India. In fact, from long back, there had been no tuition fees in Germany, but there are still some universities collecting a small amount of fees as a process to speed up the process of completing the degree.  WHY GERMANY? To your surprise, there are other countries like Denmark, Finland, Sweden and some Northern European countries, who provide ...

How to get an admit in German university?

A happy new year to all my readers, who are following and reading this blog. This is my first article of this year. I was off for quite a while and there have been a lot of enquiries and requests from many aspirants regarding how to get an admit? What are the proper steps or ways to follow. Let me give you an example and explain. Please do note that, there is no hard and fast rule that everyone needs to follow these steps and I do not guarantee anything. The below points are from my experience and observations. Let’s take an example of Raghu, who is currently at 5th semester of his Bachelor’s studies and he is aspiring to pursue his Masters from Germany. So, I would suggest him to first find out his niche and passion. Completing a Masters is a herculean task and there is no point for Raghu to pursue Masters in Artificial Intelligence, when he has a passion for Thermodynamics. First step for Raghu is to find his interest and then do other things. Also Raghu needs to start learning ‘...

List of Mechanical Engineering courses in Germany | Course list - Mechanical | GermanyUnofficial

Mechanical engineering is one of the most sought out courses in Germany - mainly due to the pre-conceived notion that, Germany is best for Automobiles and Mechanical engineering. Before we move into the list, please LIKE our Facebook page to get constant updates Some advice on what, how and when to do: Since there are no rankings in Germany, this list is compiled without any order/rankings. We do not believe in the format of applying for 7 universities - 2(Dream) + 2(Mediocre) + 3(Easy). We suggest everyone to apply to ALL the courses that they seem fit for their profile and aspirations. Many candidates think that, if one studies in TUs then he/she will get only into research field - which is completely false. There are many students, who studied in TUs and get into companies. Germany VS Singapore Deciding a path to choose, when you have lot of options in hand is very difficult. When you are applying for Masters studies, there would be a lot of confusion in terms of which country to apply for and there was a question in Quora regarding Germany VS Singapore. Climate:   Are you a person who likes Winters to be cold(around 0 degree Celsius)? Are you a person who likes to just have 2 months of Summer? If you’re from a tropical country, then there is high possibility that you will not like Germany’s climate, but on the other hand Singapore has similar tropical conditions, which makes it easier to adapt.  Winner:  Singapore Course duration:  Most of the courses...
