16 points you need to know before deciding to study in Germany

16 points you need to know before deciding to study in Germany

  1. There are no ranking systems in place, to measure the universities
  2. The course you want to do is more important than the fame of the university
  3. No one will spoon feed you with respect to the subjects/labs that you should take to complete your course
  4. Most of the times, attendance are not taken in the class
  5. The Professors don’t care, if you attend the class or not
  6. The exams do not have a common pattern - meaning, XYZ subject can have the exam for 90 marks with a duration of 2 hours, whereas ABC subject can have the exam for 32 marks with a duration of 90 minutes.
  7. Other than the written exams, there can be oral exams, just projects where you need to give a presentation to get the marks
  8. You have the liberty to decide, which subject you want to study this semester and you can opt out of the examination even before 7 days of the exam date.
  9. Most of the times, you only have 2–3 attempts to clear/pass a subject - If you fail more than this, you will be thrown out of the course
  10. You definitely need to learn German language
  11. It is very common to pursue PhD after your Masters - If you have the interest towards the subject, you can easily opt for it
  12. Germany has lot of research institutes and they do pay well(depends on the stipend and institute)
  13. Do not worry about jobs while you apply to universities - because you really cannot do much, than applying for the right course.
  14. Job scenario is much different in Germany - Most of the companies put their job openings online and you may have to clear phone interviews and couple of face to face interviews
  15. The job interviews will not test your certificates, but the knowledge that you have gained via your internships, thesis, etc.,
  16. Once you graduate, you are eligible to avail 18 months of job search visa in which you can search for jobs across Europe.

Do not be selfish, share this piece of information with others also:

sually university and private student halls are fully-furnished. If you’re applying for off-campus housing, however, you’ll need to check what furniture the property and rooms have, as it can vary.

Studying Bachelors in Germany - Roadmap

By Admin
In our previous article we had seen about the reasons for studying Bachelors in Germany. Now, we will see a short road map on your journey from your country to Germany.  In month of February/March, most of the high school students will be concentrating on their final exams to score good marks. But at the same time, most of the parents will be thinking of the next steps for their son/daughter in his/her career. It would be right time to start inquiring about the process to Study in Germany for Bachelors and also about the various procedures for the same.  Then one can start applying for “Studienkolleg” (Private or Public) also known as Foundation course/Freshman year and reach Germany as soon as they finish their high school (12th standard). The “Studienkolleg” is nothing but, a 2-3 semester preparatory program that every International student needs to take up, in order to study Bachelors in Germany. This is because, the German schooling system is for...

No online booking provision is available for Mumbai Consulate. I got the visa interview date for 4th of January 2018 at 9 AM. I reached the Mumbai German consulate at 8:00 AM (Nariman Point). At around 8:15 AM the security guard asked all the applicants to stand in a line and proceed one by one from the main gate for security check. Once you enter the main gate, they ask you to carry only your files and documents and ask you to switch off your mobile. Then they ask you to keep your bag in a locker and a token is given (to be precise locker token). The guard then gave me a checklist page and asked me to arrange DD and two DD form with a photograph separately. And the two s...

SOP for German universities | What to do and what not to do? | Advice from seniors | GermanyUnofficial

By Admin
Over the past years, there have been many candidates whom we have helped with respect to studying in Germany. One common thing where most of the applicants go wrong is their application documents. This post is to emphasize on the importance of the application documents and especially why Statement of Purpose is the most important document in the application. Before we go into the article, could you please LIKE our Facebook page It is totally understandable that, since the application process for Germany is not similar to that of U.S or other countries, also it is relatively new to most of the candidates and therefore one can expect to make mistakes. But from German university point of view, it is not acceptable at any case. Amazing | Informative | FREE newsletter : SIGNUP   To start with, culturally German are "perfectionists" and they expect things to work as per the procedure/rules in their regular life. How to write a Statement of Purpose / Motivation Letter for German Universities | Sample SOP

By Admin
How to write a SOP for German Universities Writing an excellent SOP is an art. Statement of Purpose or Motivation letter is one of the most important documents in your application to the Universities. It can ''make" or "break" your application. This is the document where you explain the admission committee about your motivation towards the course and the reason why you want to study this particular course in this particular university.  Related: How to get an ADMIT in German Universities? Let us go through a scenario from the Admission committee's point of view. When you application documents arrive at their table, they will open your application with all the supporting documents and start going through your application. First and foremost, any normal person will verify whether your profile matches all the admission requirements listed in the course website. After that, they will check your grades, experiences, etc., So till now, they know ...

By Admin
The Educational loan is one of the best schemes by Indian government, which enables the students to go abroad for their higher studies and pursue their dreams. But still there are many discrepancies and confusions, when it comes to taking a loan for education and this article will cover the same with respect to private and public banks.  Public banks (Nationalized banks): Less interest (Around 11-13%) Need to show security in the form of assests, property, etc., for EDU loans more than 7lakh INR You can start repaying after your studies Processing time takes very long  You need to submit many documents The bank manager needs to trust you for giving the loan Most of the bank managers are unfamiliar with the German university process and hesitate to sanction the loan.  Please note that, the processing time takes 2-3 months and all the documents must be properly provided to the manager. But still, the rate of interest is less and the repayment time i...

Which country is better? Germany VS Singapore | Masters studies | MS course

By Admin
Germany VS Singapore Deciding a path to choose, when you have lot of options in hand is very difficult. When you are applying for Masters studies, there would be a lot of confusion in terms of which country to apply for and there was a question in Quora regarding Germany VS Singapore. Trust me, even I was in the same dilemma when I wanted to pursue my Masters course. Let me throw some light on the analysis that I had done, based on my experience in Germany(Masters studies) and my observations from my friends who are studying in Singapore. Climate:   Are you a person who likes Winters to be cold(around 0 degree Celsius)? Are you a person who likes to just have 2 months of Summer? If you’re from a tropical country, then there is high possibility that you will not like Germany’s climate, but on the other hand Singapore has similar tropical conditions, which makes it easier to adapt.  Winner:  Singapore Course duration:  Most of the courses...
