What is notarization & Which documents needs to be notarized? | Studying in Germany

Let's say you are applying to 5 or more German universities and all of those universities asks you to send in your degree certificates, scorecards, achievements, etc., But you have only one set of these certificates as ORIGINALS and you definitely cannot send the original to the universities, as they will not return those documents. So, what will you do in this situation? That is where "Notary" comes in place. Let's see what, why, and who can notarize the documents:



What is Notary?
Notarizing a document is a way of confirming that the information produced in the document (photocopy) is true and no changes have been made with respect to the "original" document. In simpler terms, it is nothing but attesting your photocopy by a Government official. 

Why should you "notarize" your documents(photocopies)?
You need to "notarize" the photocopies of all your documents, so that the University/course that you are applying for can trust that, you really have the "Original" documents and can make sure of your achievements. 

Who can "notarize" your documents?
Generally, there are people who are called as "Notary" in every city who are an 'Authorized' official of the Government and they will help you with the procedures. 

Which documents need to be "notarized"?
When you are applying to universities, it is always advisable to notarize all the documents(photocopies) that you are going to submit along with your application.

    I did a string of internships during my grad.Dothese intern
    Certificates need to be notarized as well?Sending them to uni-assist ,you see.

      Any document that you would like to provide to the university needs to be notarized. Period. :)

      Normal photocopy.. Bcoz you will be having the originals along with you and even if they ask also, you can show them the originals then and there

    Hi, amazing content guys! Good work, keep up!

    I want to apply for Masters in this year's winter semester, Have already started the process, but am quite confused by the document attestation procedure. Hope you can help me with the following questions:

    1. Do I need to attest my Original Bachelors Degree Certificate (Someone told me it needs some kind of HRD or MEA Attestation seal?)

    2. Will notarizing my 10th and 12th Certificates be enough, or do I need some special attestation for them as well?

    3. Last, you have mentioned not to submit the Originals, but I checked the site for Uni-Assist, there is mentioned after uploading the soft copies, I need to post my originals to them?

    Unlike an in-office or remote notary, a mobile is a notary public who travels to meet clients in-person. Usually, you must make an appointment and wait to meet a mobile notary public Edmonton at a specified time.
