Job prospects in Germany | Studying in Germany

Pursuing Masters in a new country, where there are so many new things like language, culture, work, etc., can be daunting to a lot of aspirants. Apart from all these things, there is one thing which most of the aspirants are worried about: JOB after Masters.

Why is everyone concerned about getting a job?
During the VISA interview, the officer will ask, "Will you return back after you studies?" and almost all of them will say "YES", but deep in their hearts they know that they won't and would like to work for 5 years and then come back to settle down (Yes, I know that I have told it out loud :P)

The reason why most of them are worried about getting a Job is that, after spending so much money on moving to a new country, struggling with the lanugage, climate, culture and then not getting a job in their desired field is heart-breaking. Moreover, the pay in Germany is comparatively good and there is no need to say about the work-culture, environment, etc., It is not that they aren't patriotic or do not want to return back, they just want to raise their standard of living and then return back to their homeland.

Should you be concerned about getting a job?
I would say NO (Yes, deal with it). I have seen lot of aspirants worried about getting a job, when they haven't even started to apply for the university/course. What is the point in worrying about job aspects before even you start with the course? In my personal opinion, which ever course you may do and which ever university you may study, if you work hard, do more projects/interns and develop a affinity towards the subject, you will definitely end up with a job. The universities will not help you to find a job, they will not even care about your studies and it is your duty to goto the company websites and look for openings and apply. In Germany, most of the companies offer Internships and it is upto you to prepare your resume and cover letter, apply to the position and give the interview. In short, YOU WILL NOT BE SPOON-FED.
Coming back to the question, you shouldn't be worried about getting a job during your application to the course, but rather you should be worried about job when you start your Master Thesis. There are so many openings and opportunities, it just takes some time for everyone to know where to look for job. Till then, concentrate on your studies and work hard.

How difficult is it going to be?

Moving to a new country, which has different kind of weather, different orientation of traffic, different cultural background, which is far away from HOME is going to be really difficult. I have been there, done that and this article is a summary of my experience in Germany. UNIVERSITY/COURSE: It is going to difficult for you to adapt to the method of teaching in German universities, where the lectures takes place with the help of presentations(PPT) by the Professor, which will be later passed on to you as NOTES. You will not be spoon-fed with the topics and the professors will not care for your grades. Their job is just to teach you the concepts and evaluate your understanding of the same. In most of the classes, there won't be any "attendance" taken and literally no one cares whether you attend the lectures or not. Also, the question paper will vary every semester; for example exam-1 will have total of 80 marks and the duration will be 2 hours, whereas exam-2 wi...

EDUCATIONAL DIFFERENCES...!!!

It has been a year now, since i landed in Germany for my Masters. In the past one year, there have been numerous times, many of my friends, relatives, kith and kin have asked me one same question, "HOW DO THEY TEACH THERE??" or "HOW'S THE TEACHING DIFFERENT FROM THE COLLEGES IN INDIA.?".  First and foremost, i would like to introduce myself as an International student of Indian origin, doing my Masters in Germany. I was intrigued by these questions so much, because whenever i do Skype or speak to someone from my home country, i tend to answer these type of questions. I am not saying that, it's bad, but everyone are eager to know the differences in the teaching methods, which led me to write this post on the Educational Differences.  To answer those questions, i would like to first share my experience of college, during my Bachelor's degree; so that you will get to know more about the differences in teaching. During my 4 year course in India, th...

Germany VS Singapore Deciding a path to choose, when you have lot of options in hand is very difficult. When you are applying for Masters studies, there would be a lot of confusion in terms of which country to apply for and there was a question in Quora regarding Germany VS Singapore. Trust me, even I was in the same dilemma when I wanted to pursue my Masters course. Let me throw some light on the analysis that I had done, based on my experience in Germany(Masters studies) and my observations from my friends who are studying in Singapore. Climate:   Are you a person who likes Winters to be cold(around 0 degree Celsius)? Are you a person who likes to just have 2 months of Summer? If you’re from a tropical country, then there is high possibility that you will not like Germany’s climate, but on the other hand Singapore has similar tropical conditions, which makes it easier to adapt.  Winner:  Singapore Course duration:  Most of the courses...
