4 things that you need to know before you come to Germany

This article is mainly for those students who have got their ADMIT in German universities

After getting the ADMIT, most of you would have applied for opening Blocked account, Edu loan, VISA, etc., But still there are many things that you need to know before you leave for your studies. Here is a list of some important things:


  1. Rail&Fly tickets
    Before you book your flight ticket to Germany, I suggest you to check out for RAIL&FLY offers with the airlines. This will save you minimum 30-50euros during your first travel. 

    Most of the International airlines have the Rail&Fly offer in Germany and this offer entails you to travel across Germany till your Destination city for FREE of cost. 

  2. Extra Baggage allowance
    Similar to the Rail&Fly offer, most of the International airlines offer extra baggage allowance to the students, who fly abroad for the first time for studies. You can avail this offer by simply showing your ADMIT LETTER during flight ticket booking. 

    This will help you to carry some extra things needed for your studies abroad and also there are no extra charges for this offer. 

  3. Signatures
    If you're from India, most of you will have a bank account in your name and since most of the banks needs you to be in-person to access your account; it is better to give a bunch of signatures on a white sheet to your parents, so that they can atleast access your account when you're abroad.
  4. Jackets
    If you are from tropical countries like India, Pakistan, etc., I strongly recommend you to buy your winter jacket after reaching Germany. Because you will have better quality jackets, sometimes cheaper options too and also more varities and options.

Indian passports of this type are not valid for GERMAN VISA | VFS Global(Germany)

An important information stated on VFS Global(Germany) website tells that the Indian passports that have Passport number "perforated" on all pages of the passport will NOT be accepted for German VISA application processing. It also states that, effective from 19-February-2018 Indian passports with perforated/punched-through on all the pages(first to last page) will not be accepted for German visa processing at the German VISA application centre in Bangalore, Cochin, and Trivandrum.  Which passport will be accepted? The website also shows us this image(illustration) of a passport, which would be accepted at this time.  What should you do if you have a perforated passport?
