Embedded Systems - TU Chemnitz | Is the course very tough?

In the recent past, I have got a lot of messages from aspirants who have got admission in Masters in Embedded Systems at TU Chemnitz. Most of them have the same doubts, "Is the course very tough?", "Can we complete the course in 2 years?", "We heard that many students dropped out of the course, due to the difficulty!". 



I hope that I am eligible to write this article, as I am studying in this particular course and thus I have a better understanding of the subjects, difficulty, modules, etc., But still, I would like to mention this before-hand, that the content of this article is purely based on my personal experience and opinions.

Difficulty of the course:
When you are applying for a Masters course, you definitely cannot expect it to be a CAKE WALK. It is definitely going to be tough and definitely you will go through some harsh times, which will be a learning lesson to you. Keeping aside the Phylosophical thoughts, if someone asks me about the difficulty of the course I would say, it is EASY. The next question that may come to your mind is that, I must be one of the first-bench student who attends all the lectures and takes notes, etc., I would politely decline that, actually I am one of the students who doesn't even attend classes.

The course is not difficult, if you could UNDERSTAND the concepts. Because, the exams will not test your memory power rather it will test your understanding of the topics. Some subjects will have even practical labs, where some interesting but simple projects will be given and you can write the theory exam only if you pass that practicals.

Can you complete the course in 2 years?:
It certainly depends on the candidate, why because I have seen many students who have completed the course in 2 years and also some students who go for an Voluntary internship, HiWi so as to increase their experience in their domain and then complete their degree. So this will be more of an personal choice, where YOU have to decide when to complete the course.
Are the subjects difficult to study?:
As I had mentioned above, it is not difficult if you can grasp the concepts. Also there are some cases where you might have wanted to study Machine Learning, but would have chosen Embedded Systems because you couldn't get those course. When you do not have a proper knowledge about the basics of Embedded Systems, then it is going to be difficult.

Also, the Embedded systems course has a good choice of electives with subjects in Image processing, System Design, Networking, Automotive Software, etc., I kindly request you to go through the syllabus first, google the modules/subjects and then decide whether this course will be suitable for your career.
